Meet Camryn Long (Ilona) Camryn-Zelinger

What’s your favorite way to communicate your feelings to a loved one?
I have a really great way of knowing exactly what I want to say and then completely screwing it up when I try to verbalize it, so my favorite way to communicate my feelings is through little notes, sweet nothings, and hugs.

Have you ever had a work-related romance? If so… how’d it go?
Work-related romance? Yes. Cliché truth? It was in a restaurant. How’d it go? What do YOU think.

Tell us about something that happened on a blind/first date.
When I was living in NYC I was using a dating site. I had not been using it long, nor was I very savvy with the dating world. I knew what the guy looked like though, or at least I thought. I arrived a little early to the coffee shop (classy first date) and waited for my potential suitor. The guy arrived and I said “Ryan?” *please note that names have been changed to prevent embarrassment* and he nodded and sat down. About 15 min later into relatively interesting conversation, I received a text: “Just got out of the train! I am so sorry! Be there in 5! –Ryan”. To make a long story short and probably more interesting to read, guy who sat down was NOT Ryan.

Do you have a favorite moment in the play?
Definitely my favorite moment(s) in the play right now is the scene between Ilona and Amalia when I find out she does not have a clue what her boyfriend even looks like, and when I go on a patter song binge about my first experience at a library.

What’s the biggest challenge for you in this production?
A huge challenge for me right now in this process is trying to really separate myself from Ilona. She resonates so much with me, and I find I am having to remind myself that I am playing a part.

What was your first job in theater?
I was in a church musical about Noah’s Arc. I played an animal.

Tell us something most people don’t know about you.
I have a birthmark on my stomach that looks like Florida upside-down.
